Mission 

The Midwest Principals' Center will help principals lead effective schools by enriching their leadership, affiliation, and knowledge.

Beliefs 

  1. Principals work consistently to improve schools. 
  2. Principals are leaders in effecting change.
  3. Principals are advocates for children, teachers, and parents and are accountable to all in the community.
  4. Principals who are active learners are more effective.
  5. An understanding of the nature of learning, the process of change, theories of instruction, and successful applications is critical to the success of principals.
  6. Opportunities for renewal are critical for the enhancement of the principal as a person and professional. 

Work Together

  1. Principals share many common experiences and a unique empathy for the complexity of their work.
  2. Principals can learn a great deal from reflecting on their own experiences and those of others.
  3. Principals gain affirmation and support by working together.
  4. Learning is enhanced in an environment where a sense of community exists.
  5. Effective organizations provide opportunities for their members to influence governance and professional activities.

Work With Others

  1. Principals have a unique role in developing leadership.
  2. Leadership is a shared responsibility in effective schools.
  3. Change will require challenging systems, traditions, and practices that separate people.
  4. Cooperation with other professional organizations enhance the work of the center.
