Differentiation Instruction: What It Would Take To Make It Right? As today's classrooms become increasingly characterized by academically diverse students, there is ample evidence that "one size fits all" teaching fails too many learners. As a result, there is a great deal of interest in "differentiated instruction." In reality, however, there is no magic in a name - only in high quality classroom practice. In terms of differentiation, that means student outcomes will improve not when we claim a particular practice, but when we adhere to the non-negotiables of a sound model in ways that demonstrate fidelity to the model. In this session, we'll explore the principles of defensible differentiation by examining classroom examples and the implications of both positive and less productive scenarios. Participants may receive Administrators Academy Credit for full-day participation in this program. (Academy 117)
