Autism Spectrum Disorder numbers are increasing dramatically. ASD students often do not fit in. How do school buildings address this challenge? This workshop will address how school leaders can facilitate the team process to create a successful school environment. Among the discussion topics: 1. Characteristics of the Autism Spectrum • Criteria • Learning Style and Sensory Needs, 2. General School Procedures and the ASD Student • Team Collaboration • Presentation of Building Rules and Disciplines Guidelines • Accommodations and Flexibility, 3. Special Events • Prepping Schedule Changes • Extra Curricular Activities, and 4. Resources • Staff Support • Training Materials.
