HOW TO GRADE FOR LEARNING: LINKING GRADES TO STANDARDS

8:00 A.M. until 3:15 P.M. To be held at: Silver Lake Country Club - Orland Park, Illinois This program is being offered in affiliation with the Consortium for Educational Change (CEC).
SUBTITLE This session will use the framework described in the books Classroom Assessment and Grading that Work (ASCD, 2006), Making Standards Useful in the Classroom (ASCD, 2007) and Formative Assessment and Standards-Based Grading (MRL, 2009) to articulate specific strategies for designing and scoring formative assessments and using them as the basis for now grading and reporting practices. Topics that will be addressed include: the inadequacy of the 100 point scale, a generic template for scale (rubric) design, designing measurement topics, computing final status on measurement topics, traditional grading practices in a formatively based system, and new forms of report cards for formative assessment.
Participants may receive Administrators Academy Credit for full-day participation in this program. (Academy 605)
